Today Duda is excited to announce that we officially support HTTP2 (technically, HTTP/2) across all of our responsive websites.
This update affirms Duda’s commitment to fast-loading websites and responsibly staying up-to-date on the latest web standards on behalf of our customers.
HTTP2 is a new web protocol that controls how a website is downloaded from a server to the browser. HTTP2 allows for more files to be downloaded over the same connection which results in a faster download of a website to the browser. There are a few other features as well (such as data push from the server) that are less relevant.
With the old HTTP 1.1, every file (think images, css files, etc.) was downloaded through its own, new connection to the server. The switch to HTTP2 helps solve this problem to make websites even faster.
The only requirement you need to take advantage of HTTP2 is having an SSL certificate installed on your website. This is because all browsers require a secure connection to start using HTTP2. If your website already has an SSL certificate installed, it isalready being served over HTTP2.
