Connected Data: Now in the Contact Form

The newest Connected Data addition is the Contact Form widget. The Contact Form widget allows site visitors to submit information to the site owner and now with Connected Data, you can connect Contact Forms on your site to an email address in the Content Library or a Collection. You can also add collection fields such as apartment id or team member name to the email subject or as external fields sent in the form.

In addition, those additional fields will be available not just in the form email but also when accessing the form responses data from site overview.

When using this new capability with Dynamic Pages contact form inquiries become way more efficient. Connect the recipient email to an email field in your collection, allowing you to automatically set a different contact form recipient email for each page item (page items are the pages created automatically when connecting a page to a collection). You can also connect additional collection fields to the contact form to give more context when receiving the form submission email.

How to Use This in Dynamic Pages

  1. Add a Contact Form widget to your Dynamic Page.
  2. Right click on the widget and select ‘Connect to Data’ - this will open the Connected Data popup.
  3. From here, you can connect the email address and additional fields you’d like included in the contact form email.

Use case: Real Estate Dynamic Pages

Let’s say you have a real estate company. Each of your page items contains a property from a different area of the country and a contact form. Each area has its own real estate agent. You’d like the relevant real estate agent to receive an email about inquiries related to properties in their area.

Simply connect your contact form to the agent email field in your collection. Since each area has many properties, you can give your agent more information about which property this request came from. Connect the ‘email subject suffix’ to the property name.

If needed, you can also connect two more additional fields that will be included in the form response email.

Use Case: Gym Classes Dynamic Pages

You work at a local gym and are in charge of recruiting new members. You set up your dynamic page with all of your gym classes and add a contact form.

In this case, you’re the one who receives all the emails. You can connect the contact form to your Content Library Email - or just fill the recipient address manually. To know which class people are interested in, connect the email subject suffix to the class name from your collection. You can also connect the additional fields to the tutor’s name, and the class date.
