The URL redirect now allows redirects to dynamic pages, store products and blog posts, thanks to the new support of wildcards and variables. This offers a simpler way to define URL redirect rules more efficiently, and it lets you redirect a bulk of URLs using just one rule.
Wildcards are what allows you to define the URL rule based on its structure, instead of setting up similar URLs manually one by one. Wildcards are represented with a single asterisk symbol (*) that matches any data between the current slashes. For example, /category/*/home could redirect to /category/abc/home.
Variables define a URL rule that is the same for many pages with the same structure, but with different content. They should be added between the source URL and the target URL. For example, this is helpful when redirecting all store products from one format to another.
Variables are defined within curly brackets {} both in the source URL rule and in the target rule. It is important to use
the exact same variable spelling in both the source URL and target rules.
For example: If you have an old store product URL of /product/p-23245-umbrella and the new URL is /product/umbrella, the source rule would be /product/p-*-{productname} and the target rule URL would be /product/{productname}.
Now, if you want to move older blogs to Duda while keeping the SERP ranking, now you can do it quickly. Just add one URL rule and all the relevant URLs will magically follow.
